Well, Hurricane Earl may not be the storm of the century, but it will certainly do some damage somewhere. A long standing interest of mine is aggregating real-time information in disasters to get an overall picture of what is happening. Two recent features of Google - incorporating twitter feeds and being able to specify a timeframe - almost make it a really good too for this. Try typing Hurricane Earl into Google, click on "More search tools" then "Latest' - you get real time updates of the latest posted information from news sites, twitter, web pages and so on. How useful is it? Well let's see. Even better would be to be able to plot twitter locations on a map, maybe clustered and colored by content of the tweet?
